Report fly-tipping

Fly-tipping is illegally dumped rubbish which can lead to a fine of up to £50,000 along with imprisonment.

We will investigate dumped rubbish and may serve a legal notice to landowners to clear rubbish that attracts or harbours vermin.

Where we have sufficient evidence we will prosecute fly-tippers.

Where dumped rubbish is on publicly owned land we aim to remove as soon as possible, and will prioritise based on:

  • location
  • risk
  • ease of removal
  • available resources

Households have a legal duty to ensure anyone taking waste from their house is authorised by the Environment Agency. You should ask to see their waste carrier permit and check the EA’s register. Failure to use an authorised service is a criminal offence.

Missed waste collections should be reported via our report a missed collection form.

If you see an abandoned trolley, report it online to TrolleyWise and they can collect and return the trolley to where it belongs.
