Rat treatments and pest control service update
We have suspended all pest control services except for rat treatments. This is to prioritise public health during the waste industrial action.
Important changes to our rat treatment service
- Payments are temporarily suspended. Rat treatments are currently free of charge.
- The appointment booking system is paused. We cannot give treatment timescales.
- If you report a rat problem, an officer may visit and provide a free poison bait box.
Want to treat the problem yourself or faster?
You can buy your own treatment.
Treatments are available online or at most hardware stores.

Other pest control services currently suspended
We are not taking bookings for:
- mice
- wasps
- bedbugs
- cockroaches
- fleas
Charges
While treatments are free for now, the following applies when services resume:
- rats: Free for now. Use the form to report:
- rats in your garden
- on neighbouring property
- in shared/common areas
- all other pests: Charges will apply when service resumes.
- prices include VAT (20%)
Cancelling an appointment
You cancel at least 48 hours in advance by sending an email to cs.pestcontrol@birmingham.gov.uk.
