The following is a video which was filmed on 2 December 2020, illustrating progress made on the scheme to date. The project remains on budget and on schedule as detailed in a new news story.
Construction update
The construction works are progressing well, and the following works will be taking place over the course of the next three months:
- Perry Park / North of GMAC and HP Centre: Construction of the retaining wall has commenced, phase one is complete and phase two will start in February 2021. The drainage and duct work in the throwers field has commenced and will be completed in December 2020. Installation of the throwers field has also commenced and is due to be completed in summer 2021. Works on the warm up track have commenced and are due to be completed in March 2021. As a result of these activities, you will see the warm up track starting to take shape.
- New West Stand and main track: The installation of the steel frame has commenced, and the pre-cast terracing will start in December 2020, both of which will continue until April 2021. Installation of the metal decking has commenced and will continue until April 2021. To create the flooring, concrete will be poured onto the metal decking during the daytime and then it will be levelled and polished overnight (only on days when the concrete is poured and this is expected to be once/twice a week). This process is unavoidable, but rest assured all precautions have been taken to ensure that potential noise is kept to an absolute minimum to avoid any disturbance to our neighbours. We anticipate that these works will start in early December 2020 and will be ongoing until February 2021, however this will be subject to appropriate weather and temperature conditions. Construction of the North and South stadium seating berms (raised banks to support the seating areas) has commenced and will continue until early 2021. As a result of these activities you will continue to see the new West Stand taking shape.
- North of the existing East Stand: Construction of the north and east access roads has commenced and the tar base course level (lower level) is due to be completed in December 2020.
- A pedestrian route will be installed between Church Road and the rear of the East Stand in December 2020. The route will separate pedestrians and vehicular traffic to provide safe access to the East Stand.
