Church Road Junction Works and Extended Working Hours

Church Road Junction Works

Construction of the southern section of the Athletes’ Route (which will pass through Perry Park) has commenced. This will involve widening of the existing junction/access point between the Athletes’ Route and Church Road (located to the east of the Aston Manor Cricket Club). These works will include:

  • raising the ground levels of the junction and surrounding section of Church Road to match the existing footpaths;
  • resurfacing the footpath and the section of Church Road surrounding the junction; and
  • installing new kerbs for the road and footpath.

The Church Road junction works are due to commence in early October and will be complete in late October 2021. To accommodate these works, temporary traffic management measures will be required along Church Road. This will include single lane use of the surrounding section of Church Road for vehicles, between 4 October and 22 October 2021. During this time, a section of the footpath on the northern side of Church Road will be closed and therefore pedestrians should use the footpath on the southern side of Church Road. Temporary pedestrian crossings will be in place in this location. There will also be a short closure of Church Road to vehicles on 23 and 24 October 2021 and a vehicular diversion will be in place, with signage to direct road users.

Extended Working Hours

We are pleased to inform you that the Alexander Stadium Redevelopment construction works are progressing well. To ensure we maintain the current levels of mitigation against the coronavirus pandemic and to allow us to facilitate safe working, we have extended our construction working hours. This extension of working hours has been agreed with Birmingham City Council’s planning team.

The original construction working hours were 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturday. The temporarily extended construction working hours are 8am to 9pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 6pm on Saturdays, and will be in place until the end of October 2021. As considerate constructors, we have limited evening works to quieter, less intrusive activities and all precautions have been taken to ensure that all potential noise is kept to an absolute minimum during these temporary extended working hours.
