Construction update

McLaughlin & Harvey commenced construction works on the Alexander Stadium in May 2020. The initial works have been primarily 'enabling' in nature, including the installation of offices, welfare facilities and the perimeter security arrangements mentioned above.

Over the course of the next three months, the following works will be taking place:

  • Perry Park / North of GMAC and High Performance Centre: Cut and fill works will be undertaken from 31 August 2020 for approximately three weeks to level the ground and prepare for the drainage and duct works. In mid-September drainage and duct work will commence and continue until December 2020.
  • New West Stand and main track: Foundation works and the construction of a retaining wall for the new stand will go on until the end of October 2020. In September, the pre-cast lift shaft will be installed on site over two to three days. In early November, works on the new stand steel frame and metal decking will commence and continue until January 2021.
  • North of the existing East Stand: Cut and fill works will continue in this area to support the development of the crib wall (a wall comprising a system of timber slats to retain stone fill) in the north east of the site. These works will go on until October 2020.
