Construction update

McLaughlin & Harvey commenced construction works on the Alexander Stadium on 26 May 2020. The construction works are well underway, and the following works will be taking place between autumn 2020 and summer 2021. The timeframe for delivery of each key activity is set out below:

  • Perry Park / North of GMAC and HP Centre: Construction of the retaining wall has commenced and will be completed by the end of October 2020. The drainage and duct work has also commenced and will continue until December 2020. Installation of the throwers field will commence in late October 2020 and is due to be completed in summer 2021.
  • New West Stand and main track: Foundation works and construction of a retaining wall for the new West stand are on track to commence at the end of October 2020. The pre-cast lift shaft will be installed on site in early November 2020. The works for the installation of the steel frame will commence in early November 2020, and the pre-cast terracing in December 2020, both of which will continue until April 2021. Installation of the metal decking will commence in November 2020, and will continue until January 2021. The construction of the North and South stadium seating berms commenced in early September 2020 and will continue until early 2021. As a result of these activities you will begin to see the new West Stand taking shape.
  • North of the existing East Stand: Cut and fill works to support the development of the crib wall (a wall comprising a system of timber slats to retain stone fill) in the north east of the site are on track to finish towards the end of October 2020. The construction of the north and east access roads commenced in late September 2020, and the base course level (lower level) is due to be completed in December 2020.
