Alexander Stadium redevelopment stakeholder satisfaction survey

Birmingham City Council and McLaughlin and Harvey are conducting a stakeholder satisfaction survey to determine how well we are achieving our aims and objectives in the opinion of stakeholders. The information gathered in response to the survey will be used to assess the effectiveness of our engagement with stakeholders and social value programme, and inform our approach in the future. The data gathered will also be reported in McLaughlin and Harvey’s Social Impact report.

Surfacing works and temporarily extended construction hours

Temporarily extended construction hours

We are pleased to inform you that the Alexander Stadium Redevelopment construction works are progressing well, and we are on programme to complete the initial phase of works on 1 April 2022. To ensure we maintain the current level of progress and to allow us to undertake road resurfacing works when the vehicle and pedestrian levels are lower, and therefore safer, we have temporarily extended our construction working hours. This will include some evening, overnight and extended weekend working.

We would like to assure you that during these temporarily extended working hours all precautions have been taken to ensure that potential noise is kept to an absolute minimum. To facilitate the works, some additional temporary spotlights will be used. However the lights will be targeted at the works locations to minimise disturbance to local residents and businesses. See below for a description of the location and timings of the works.

Resurfacing works along the road at the rear of the Walsall Road Allotments

These works will involve the removal of the existing road surface, and laying of a new surface. The works will be undertaken

  • between 6pm and midnight 9 March 2022; and
  • between 6pm on 11 March and 2am on 12 March 2022.

Outside of these hours, the route will remain accessible to pedestrians.

Resurfacing works along part of ‘Allotment Road’ (the road between Church Road and the Alexander Stadium)

The works will involve the removal of the existing road surface, and laying of a new surface .The works will be undertaken on the stretch of ‘Allotment Road’ which falls after McLaughlin & Harvey’s security gate, up to the Alexander Stadium. The works will be undertaken

  • between 9:30pm (at the earliest) on 10 March and 4am on 11 March 2022
  • between 9:30pm (at the earliest) on 14 March and 4am on 15 March 2022.

Outside of these hours, the route will remain accessible to vehicles. The temporary footpath adjacent to ‘Allotment Road’ will not be impacted by the works and will remain accessible throughout.

The works will not impact on access to the Walsall Road Allotments.

Surfacing works in other areas within the main construction site

The works will involve laying of surfacing in specific areas of the main construction site. These works will be undertaken on Saturday 19 March and Sunday 20 March 2022, between 8am and 4pm.

As considerate constructors, McLaughlin & Harvey is keen to be a good neighbour to local residents and businesses, and encourage you to contact them directly via their dedicated email address ASCommunities@mclh.co.uk to discuss any queries or concerns about the construction works

Equipment testing

Birmingham City Council will need to undertake testing of the floodlights in mid to late March 2022. This testing will take place in the evening, but the frequency of testing will be minimised to avoid disturbance to local residents wherever possible. Birmingham City Council will also need to test the Stadium’s sound, and emergency alarm systems during the daytime in mid-March 2022.
