What is Shared Works?

Shared Works is a secure online platform that helps homeowners apply for funding under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) or Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS). It makes it easier to for us to coordinate the home upgrade process with you and your contractor.

Shared Works gives you a simple way to complete your GBIS or ECO4 application, stay informed throughout the process, and know what to expect next.

It is free to use.

  • Register your interest in ECO4 or GBIS and track your application
  • Upload documents to check your eligibility
  • Review the energy-saving measures proposed for your home
  • Track the installation step by step and reschedule appointments if needed

Why use Shared Works?

Upgrading your home’s energy efficiency involves several steps and people, including the council, your contractor and you. This used to be hard to manage. Using Shared Works makes it simpler.

Creating an account gives you:

  • a simple application form that collects everything the council and contractor need
  • one place to find upgrade details, dates, documents and guides
  • real-time updates so you always know what’s happening
  • better coordination, as all parties use the same information
  • a way to securely message your contractor and the council’s ECO team

How it works

Step 1: Apply

Fill in the ECO4 or GBIS application form.

When you submit the form, you will be told how to access Shared Works. You will get an email to confirm your application.

Step 2: Upload documents

If we need documents to check your eligibility, Shared Works will tell you what to upload.

Once approved, you will get another confirmation email. Your assigned contractor will contact you by phone or email.

Step 3: Get your home assessed

Our approved contractor will visit to assess your property. You will be able to review the recommended upgrades and learn more about them on Shared Works.

Step 4: Approve the work

You can approve or reject the proposed work. If you approve, an installation date will be scheduled.
