Help from your energy supplier
The following organisations have grants and schemes to help customers struggling to pay their energy bills.
British Gas
British Gas Energy Trust has two types of funds to support customers in or facing fuel poverty. These are:
- Individual and Families Debt Write-off Fund - find out if you are eligible and apply for a grant
- Energy Support Fund - this is currently closed for new grant applications and will re-open later this year
The British Gas Energy Trust might be able to support you even if you are not their customer.
ScottishPower
- The ScottishPower Hardship Fund may be able to help you clear or reduce arrears by crediting your ScottishPower energy account. Find out if you are eligible and apply.

Octopus Energy
- Find out if you can get financial help from the Octopus Assist Fund.

E.On
Customers of E.On or Sainsbury's Energy may be able to get financial help from the E.On Energy Next Energy Fund if you agree to a payment plan. Find out if you are eligible and apply.
Get independant advice
Citizens Advice has a list of energy companies that offer grants to help pay for energy bills. You can also find out if you can get a fuel voucher to top up a pre-payment meter.
