Registering an address with Royal Mail
Royal mail delays
Royal Mail is currently experiencing delays in issuing new postcodes due to a recent software upgrade. They are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Apply for your addressing at an early stage of development to avoid delays.
If you urgently require addressing to place orders with utility providers, request that we send base addressing for you to use the No Postcode Method when placing orders.
Royal Mail owns the Postcode Address File (PAF) which is widely used for verifying addresses and ‘address lookup’, for example when internet shopping. Sometimes the address of a property is missing from PAF, which may cause problems for property owners.
If you are a developer and have already obtained your official address from us, you can update PAF online.
If your address is not on PAF and is not a new build or conversion, complete the change of name or registering an address form. We will investigate and confirm what action has been taken.
For more details about PAF, email Royal Mail or phone 08456 011 110.
