Homes for Ukraine – move on funding

Guests preparing to move on from their sponsor into their first private accommodation may be eligible for a one-off payment of between £3,000 and £4,000 to help with their move.

Eligibility

The move on funding grant is available to Ukrainian households hosted under the Homes for Ukraine scheme in Birmingham. To qualify, you must:

• be moving out of your sponsor's accommodation into your first independently rented private property
• only submit 1 application per household
• understand that your application is linked to the property and not to the individuals in the group
• make sure your Homes for Ukraine visa application was matched with a sponsor in Birmingham

If you do not meet the criteria, your application may be considered discretionary, subject to our approval, based on your circumstances.

Funding available

• if your household has up to 3 guests, you can get up to £3,000
• if your household has 4 guests, you can get up to £3,500
• if your household has 5 guests or more, you can get up to £4,000

These limits are the maximum funding that can be claimed to secure a property and to get help with the initial starter pack.

What funds may cover

• Holding deposit fee, rent in advance, and guarantor insurance (the total value may be equivalent to 3 months' rent)
• Essential furniture, essential household items (floor coverings if necessary) and white goods, such as fridge freezer, washing machine, cooker, bed and mattress
• Reasonable moving costs, for example, van hire
• Initial energy bills for up to 12 weeks
