Ukrainian sponsors guide: Financial support for sponsors

Will you get paid for hosting a Ukrainian guest and family?

Financial support for sponsoring hosts is set by the government. You will receive:

• £350 a month from the date that the guest initially arrived in the UK

This is  classed as a thank you payment.

The payments are not taxable, and do not affect benefits or single person Council Tax discounts.

You cannot charge rent to the guest you host.

We will only issue payment when:

• you have successfully passed all the required checks, and
• your first guest has stayed at your offered property for more than 15 days

Cost of living payment increase

In support of the cost-of-living crisis for sponsors Birmingham City Council will continue  to pay a  top up to the government thank you payment of £150 per month.

The payment increase will be paid until your guests apply for the UPE . Ukraine Permission Extension scheme (accessible) - GOV.UK

What if your guest moves out of your home?

If your guest moves out of your home for any reason, you must tell us as immediately. If you do not let us know you may incur an overpayment, which you would have to pay back.
