Renewing your membership card

All cards will expire after a set period of time depending on the borrower category you have been assigned. If you try to take out or renew an item that will be due back after your card has expired, the transaction will be blocked.

To find out when your card expires, check your account online through the library catalogue. You will need to log in using your card number and PIN and the card expiry will be listed under 'Personnel Details'.

You can renew your card at your local library by bringing along your card and proof of address.

Using our eContent services with an expired membership card

We are unable to renew your membership via email, but we can provide a temporary access Overdrive. This will last for 3 months but we can extend it further if libraries have not reopened.

To continue using the service once our libraries are open, you will need to complete the renewal process by taking proof of address to your nearest Birmingham library. If you no longer wish to user this service, you do not need to do anything as your details will be removed from our system.
