Overview and contact

Library Services at Home (LSaH) is free and has enabled Birmingham residents to continue reading since 1981.

We deliver books and other library materials to people who find it hard to leave their homes without help.

Who can use the service

We can only consider applications for this service where the requester is unable to leave their home without help due to:

  • disability
  • illness
  • mobility
  • frailty

Carers who cannot visit their local library due to individual circumstances may also apply.

When we receive your application, a member of the team will phone you to assess your suitability for the service.

We we will ask you why you need the service, but we do not conduct any assessments relating to your health or current medical conditions.

Any personal information is kept strictly confidential.

If your application does not meet the assessment criteria, it will be rejected.

How the service works

Library Services at Home will delivery books and other library materials to successful applicants on a regular, monthly basis.

The service is provided by dedicated and trained library staff.

We are happy to correspond with a nominated person of your choice if this would be easier for you.

What we provide
