The next scheduled election will be held on Thursday 7 May 2026.
If you are working on polling day and have not already made arrangements to vote, you can apply for an absent vote.
Apply for a postal vote
If you apply for a postal vote, we will send your ballot paper to you by post.
The deadline to apply for a postal vote
5:00pm on Tuesday 21 April 2026.
Apply for a proxy vote
A proxy vote is where someone attends your usual polling station and votes on your behalf.
The deadline to apply for a proxy vote
5:00pm on Tuesday 28 April 2026.
If you are appointed to work after this date, get in touch with the Elections Office, and we will see what arrangements we can make for you to vote in the local elections.
