Mayoral Petition Notice

Regulations provide for the holding of a referendum on whether Birmingham City Council should change to a different form of governance – an Elected Mayor. For this to happen, at least 5% of local government electors must sign a petition. Each year the City Council publishes the minimum number of signatures which would be needed to support a valid petition requiring the Council to hold a referendum.
