Apply for an emergency proxy vote

If you were planning to vote in person and an emergency happens, you may be able to apply for an emergency proxy vote.

An emergency might be:

• medical
• needing to work

The emergency must have happened after the deadline to apply for a normal proxy vote. The deadline is 5:00pm on 28 April 2026.

Your application will usually need confirmation from someone else about the emergency and when it happened. Who this is will depend on the type of emergency.

Contact the elections office to find out what you need to do and to get an application form.

The latest you can apply is 5:00pm on election day, 7 May 2026.
