How long will we keep your information?

We will keep your information for as long as it is needed. Once it is no longer required, it will be disposed of securely and safely.

The information included on the published electoral register will be kept on archive copies of the electoral register, which are available for inspection after a period of 10 years.

The majority of paperwork concerning an election is retained for a period of 12 months, after which time it is securely destroyed.

There are restrictions on what documentation can be inspected and by whom.

Returns of candidate’s election expenditure are retained for a period of 2 years, after which time it is either returned to the candidate or securely disposed of.
