The Elections Office appoints casual staff at different times of the year to assist in both the running of elections and also during the annual canvass.

We will attach below the latest vacancies by job type, e.g. Presiding Officer, Poll Clerk, Polling Station Inspector, Senior Count Staff, Counters and Postal Vote Opening Staff. You can see the duties for the various roles.

We are recruiting election staff to assist at the next election in Birmingham on 3 May 2018, when there will be City Council and Sutton Town Council Elections.

Poll Clerks on 3 May 2018 from 6.30am until 10.15pm – vacancies across the city. 

Counters on 4 May 2018 from 8.00am to the end of the count at ICC, Broad Street.

It’s not necessary to be a City Council employee in order to work at the Election.

We send out the majority of our information via email, including job offers. Therefore please ensure that you provide an up-to-date email address on any application form you submit.

Please be aware that due to the high number of application forms we receive, it’s not possible to confirm receipt of application forms. We also can’t inform applicants if they’ve been unsuccessful, as it’s possible that vacancies will arise at the last minute.
