Apply to rent a garage

You can rent a council garage if you are:

  • aged 18 or over
  • living or working in Birmingham

We have garages across the city in a range of sizes. They are at least 5m long and 1.8m high. Our garages are 2.1m wide at the door and 2.5m wide inside.

You can use our garages for storage as well as parking your vehicle off-road.

The cost of renting a garage is:

  • council tenants and leaseholders who pay ground rent to the council: £11.38 a week
  • everyone else: £13.66 a week (including VAT)

If you’re interested in renting a garage, please read our terms and conditions and then fill in our application form.

Our terms and condition have been given a Crystal Mark by the Plain English Campaign. This means they should be easy to read.

After you have applied, you will receive a letter confirming that you are on the waiting list for a garage. We will contact you if we need any more information.

Improving our service to you

We are currently refurbishing and updating many of our garages. This means that not all our units are available for rent.

We are also working on ways of telling you where we have empty garages.
