The Access for People with Disabilities document provides guidance about how to make new developments accessible to all. Specific groups of people may find it particularly helpful to have more accessible public buildings, such as the elderly, those with children and buggies, and people with learning or language difficulties, as well as those with sensory or mobility impairments.

Other organisations can also offer advice.

This document was adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document in March 2006. It is used to guide planning applications as well as provide general advice to property owners on how to make buildings as accessible as possible. It also gives advice on how to meet building regulation requirements and the obligations required by Disability Discrimination Acts.

Document Status : Statutory Policy Document - Adopted March 2006
