What is antisocial behaviour?
Antisocial behaviour is ‘behaviour which has caused or is likely to cause you harassment, alarm or distress’ and may include:
- noise nuisance
- neighbour disputes
- verbal abuse
- threatening behaviour
- harassment and intimidation
If you are being disturbed by loud music and noises, you can report it to environmental services.
Activities that take place during unsociable hours, such as vacuuming at 2am, is also classed as anti-social behaviour.
Noise or behaviour that is part of everyday life is not considered antisocial behaviour.

Tenancy breaches
It is important to know the difference between what is classed as anti-social behaviour and what are tenancy breaches.
Tenancy breaches can include:
- damaging the property
- illegal mutual exchanges
- unauthorised subletting
- misusing communal areas or gardens
