Contents insurance for council tenants and leaseholders

About tenants home contents insurance

As your housing provider, we insure the building and anything we provide.

You are responsible for insuring your home contents (belongings), such as:

  • furniture
  • carpets
  • electrical items

Contents insurance can help you replace your belongings if something unexpected happens, for example:

  • a leak
  • fire
  • theft
  • accidental damage

About the insurance provider – Ecclesiastical

We have worked with Ecclesiastical Insurance Office PLC (Ecclesiastical) to offer contents insurance for our tenants.

Ecclesiastical will provide all new and renewing policies.

The new monthly policy is called "Simple Home Contents".

Ecclesiastical's partner, URIS, administers the policy. URIS will:

  • answer your questions
  • give you a quote
  • take your payments
  • help you if you need to make a claim

This scheme is optional. You can choose a different provider, or decide not to have contents insurance.
