Memorials and commemorative features in parks
We are currently unable to accept new requests for memorial benches. We strive to maintain a careful balance between infrastructure and the overall needs of our parks and green spaces.
In some locations, such as Sutton Park National Nature Reserve, archaeological designations strictly limit any new foundations or excavations, making installations impossible.
Additionally, certain sites are extremely popular and have already reached capacity for memorial benches, meaning we cannot accommodate further requests without compromising the character and accessibility of these spaces.
We appreciate the importance of commemorating loved ones and understand this may be disappointing. Our priority is to protect the integrity, heritage, and sustainability of Birmingham’s parks for future generations.
We will continue to review this policy and explore alternative ways to celebrate and remember those who have made a difference in our community.
