What is a Local Housing Involvement Board (LHIB)
The Local Housing Involvement Board (LHIB) is the constituency-wide body for Birmingham City Council housing tenants and leaseholders.
Members of the board are volunteers who represent the wards within their constituency.
There are 10 LHIBs across the city. Each LHIB will have the opportunity to review and shape the housing services it provides. It will look at:
- improving their area
- getting better value for money
- helping to improve performance and deal with housing complaints quickly and effectively.
- working in partnership with local housing team and develop housing plans.
- being a consultative body when housing policies and procedures are being reviewed
How board members are elected
LHIB elects a member to represent its constituency at the City Housing Involvement Board (CHIB), which is the overarching organisation for all the LHIB’s and Birmingham City Council.
Members have the opportunity to join sub-groups.
This group will meet face to face, in its district, six times a year. Members of this group will also take part in estate walkabouts to identify housing issues.
