Sitting within the neighbourhood division of Birmingham City Council, the Cultural Development Service supports a range of activities, which enable local people to engage with and shape arts and culture on their doorsteps.
The Cultural Development Service empowers future generations to develop their creativity and play an active part in the culture and heritage of the city, whilst supporting the growth and development of artists and companies working in this sector.
To help achieve our outcomes for the city, we support the delivery of high quality arts activities that engage Birmingham residents.
These activities will contribute to our outcomes by;
- Enabling people to have access to high quality cultural activities in neighbourhoods (Birmingham Cultural Strategy 2016 to 2019)
- Ensuring that all children and young people have opportunities to engage with a diverse range of high quality arts and cultural experiences at every stage of their development and which they value (Birmingham Cultural Strategy 2016 to 2019)
- Enabling citizens to live more active, longer, healthier and independent lives (Birmingham is a fulfilling city to age well in)
- Supporting activities that celebrate and contribute to vibrant culture and flourishing neighbourhoods (Birmingham is a great city to live in)
