Cultural Action Areas Programme

We are pleased to announce the third round of funding for an ongoing programme of investing in culture to help grow local economies by creating a diverse cultural and heritage offer for high streets and local centres.

Led by consortiums of local stakeholders and leaders, Cultural Action Areas play a major role in driving place-based economic growth by re-animating high streets and local centres with a diversified cultural and heritage offer.

The activities led by Cultural Action Areas will also improve community cohesion, business resilience and improve life changes for Birmingham citizens, such as through volunteering.

Grant funding - round 3

The programme’s grant seed funding will support consortiums to:

  • establish Cultural Action Areas
  • trial new ways of working or new approaches
  • invest in capital improvements or items that will open up opportunities for a diverse cultural and heritage offer

Even small investments can make a big difference.

Round 3 is now open. The deadline for applications is 1:00pm on Friday 7 March 2025. Applications submitted after this time will not be considered.
