Apply for a Cultural Action Area Programme grant (Round 4)
We are pleased to announce the fourth round of funding for the Cultural Action Area Programme, an ongoing programme supported by the Enterprise Zone and delivered by our Cultural Development Service.
The programme invests in areas across Birmingham, bringing culture and heritage to high streets and local centres to celebrate diversity and boost local economies.
Led by consortiums of local stakeholders and leaders, Cultural Action Areas play a major role in driving place-based economic growth by re-animating high streets and local centres with a diversified cultural and heritage offer that drive footfall to the area.
The activities led by Cultural Action Areas will also improve community cohesion, business resilience and provide opportunities for citizens to get involved in developing their local area, such as through volunteering.
Through round 4 we will offer four grants of £55,250. Each grant will be made up of £42,750 capital funding and £12,500 revenue funding.
Grant funding - Round 4
The grant funding will support consortiums of local stakeholders and leaders to collaboratively establish their Cultural Action Area through the following types of activity:
- finding new ways of developing and establishing a local cultural offer to re-animate the high street or local centre
- identifying and investing in existing activities, strengths, funded programmes and other resources to make the most of what already exists
- investing in capital improvements and purchasing equipment that will open up sustainable opportunities for a diverse cultural offer
- developing new partnerships, collaborations, and ways of working that will enable change so that cultural activities and initiatives can be sustained for longer-term impact
- working together to pool existing resources and funding
