Apply for a Vibrant and Active City Programme grant

We are delighted to have received Communities and Place Pillar UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF) to support our Vibrant and Active City Programme. Through this programme we will invest in our city’s cultural life to create opportunities and bring people together.

Vibrant and Active City Programme grant funding is available to eligible applicants to support a wide range of capital and revenue projects through the following funding streams.

Grant funding streams

Enhancing Cultural Spaces Fund Capital Between £5,000 and £25,000 Refurbish, enhance or develop cultural spaces.
Music Infrastructure Fund Capital Between £5,000 and £25,000 Refurbish, enhance or develop spaces for music creators, music performers and music audiences.
Music Development Fund Revenue Between £2,000 and £10,000 Support the development of grassroots music across Birmingham, including developing the producers, promoters and musicians that make the city's music scene unique.
Tourism Capital Fund Capital Grants of £30,000 Support aimed at visitor attractions and experiences to improve physical assets, improve visitor welcome, visitor information, or develop new walking trails and new or improved uses of digital technology.
Tourism Events Development Fund Capital Up to £30,000 Support aimed at Business Improvement Districts within Birmingham who have capital projects that focus on creating or enhancing local events to drive community engagement and cultural tourism

The closing date for all Vibrant and Creative City Programme applications is midday on Monday 1 September 2025.

Culture and Music Sector Grants

This funding is primarily for Culture and Music Sector Organisations.

Before you apply

You must:

Pre-application registration

Registration is free but you will need to provide your organisation’s governing document.

After submitting the online registration form, you will receive an email with a reference number. You can then apply for a Culture or Music grant through the relevant online form which will ask for your registration reference number.

How to apply

The closing date for all Vibrant and Creative City Programme applications is midday on Monday 1 September 2025.

For culture and music applications you must complete and upload the following documents to your online application:

Apply for Culture and Music capital funding

Eligible applicants can apply for either the Enhancing Cultural Spaces Fund or the Music Infrastructure Fund, but not both.

For capital building works and landscape projects you must:

  • own the space or have a lease for 3 years or more
  • have permission to carry out your project activities

You will also need to register for a BRUM account and sign in to access the Enhancing Cultural Spaces Fund application form.
