What you should do if you are at risk of losing your home

The earlier you approach us, the more chance we have of securing housing for you and your household.

Speak with a housing adviser today

If you are aged 25 or over, or are aged 18 to 25 and have dependent children, phone 0121 303 7410 option 3. Our phone lines are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

You can also request a housing needs assessment. Note that this does not trigger an emergency response. It may take a few days for somebody to contact you.

If you and your partner (if you have one) are under 25 years old and have no children, then you will need to attend the St Basils Youth Hub instead. You can phone them on 0300 303 0099.

You may be at risk of losing your home if you are:

  • a homeowner facing repossession of your home
  • a tenant who has been given a valid Section 21 notice (no fault notice)
  • a tenant who has been given a valid Section 8 notice (at fault notice)
  • a tenant who has been given a notice of termination of a licence agreement
  • leaving housing that has been tied to your employment
  • illegally evicted from your home
  • experiencing antisocial behaviour, severe harassment, or gang related violence
  • getting threats of violence which are likely to be carried out
  • experiencing any form of domestic abuse
  • being threatened with eviction because of your behaviour
  • in arrears with your rent and are at risk of being served a Section 8 notice
  • claiming that your housing is unsuitable because of statutory overcrowding
  • claiming that your housing is unsuitable due to mobility concerns
  • claiming that your housing is unsuitable due to medical conditions
  • asked to leave your housing by family or friends, or you can only stay with them for a short period
  • due to leave an institution, such as the armed services, a care home, or a prison or youth offender institute
  • waiting to leave hospital but have no suitable housing to move into
