Property Licensing Public Register

Under the Housing Act 2004, we must keep a register of all current:

  • mandatory, additional and selective property licences
  • temporary exemption notices
  • interim management orders

Search the new Public Register for limited information on whether a privately rented House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) or a property occupied by a single household is included.

If a suspected HMO property is not listed, check the old Public Register which is being transferred to the new version.

The Licensing and Management of Houses in Multiple Occupation and Other Houses (Misc. Provisions)(England) Regulations 2006 explains what information must be included in the register.

Report a property without a licence

If a property is not on either register and you suspect that it is operating without the proper licence, you can report this to us confidentially through our dedicated reporting website or email pl@birmingham.gov.uk.
