Linked infant and junior schools

If your child attends a primary school, you do not need to apply for a junior school place.

Your child will automatically transfer to Year 3 at the same school.

However, if your child attends an infant school that has a linked junior school, then you must apply to transfer them for their junior education, even if your child attends an infant school that has a linked junior school outside of Birmingham.

You can see details below of the linked infant and junior schools in Birmingham where if your child attends the linked infant school, they will get priority for places.

If your child does not attend the linked infant school and your child attends another school, as all available places go to those children on roll at the linked infant school, your child will be very unlikely to gain a place at the linked junior school for September 2025.
