Transfer from Infant to Junior/Primary school

Children transferring from infant to junior/primary school in September 2021 must have been born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014.

If your child attends a primary school it is not necessary for you to apply for a junior school place. Your child will automatically transfer to Year 3 at the same school.

However, if your child attends infant school, it is necessary for them to apply to transfer to another school for their junior education.

If there are more applications than places, we'll offer places on the following order of priority:

  1. Looked after (children in care) or previously looked after children.
  2. Children who are attending the linked infant school when their parents apply and who will still be attending at the end of Year 2.
  3. Children (siblings) with an older brother or sister at the infant/junior school who will still be attending the school when they start.
  4. Children who live nearest the school.
