Led rides and hacks

This ride is suitable for beginner riders and/or young children as a riding taster.

The half hour lead walks are:

• Saturday and Sunday mornings at 11:00am
• Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 1:15pm and 3:30pm.

They can be arranged during the weekdays:

• Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 10:00 am and 3:00pm
• Fridays, between 10:00am and midday.

Booking is essential.

This ride is suitable if you are new to the centre or an improver rider who can control a horse or pony in walk and trot independently.

Assessment lesson

Before you go on a hack, you must have a 30-minute assessment lesson. This helps us make sure you are safe and matched with a horse suitable for your ability.

If your riding standard is acceptable, your hack can be arranged for the same day or a future date. If not, we will suggest a few brush-up lessons first.

If you ride at the centre regularly and we already know your standard, you can book a novice trek without an assessment lesson.

Canter hacks

One-hour canter hacks are available:

• Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 10:00am and 3:00pm
• Friday mornings at 9:45am
• during school holidays

This ride is suitable for riders who are new to the centre or are at an improver level. You must be able to control a horse or pony independently in walk, trot and canter.

To make sure the ride is safe and we match you with the right horse, you’ll need to take a 30-minute assessment lesson first.

If your riding meets the required standard, you can take part in the 1-hour canter hack on the same day or book it for a future date. If not, we’ll recommend a few brush-up lessons before you try the hack.

Regular riders who we know are at the required standard can book a canter hack without an assessment.
