Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how we consult on new plans, policies and planning applications, to ensure that Birmingham City Council respond appropriately and consistently to the views and needs of local communities, businesses and stakeholders.

The current SCI was adopted by the city council in January 2020.

However, since adoption, the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, and ensuing restrictions on social distancing and access to public buildings, has meant that some of the methods of consultation outlined in the SCI are currently not possible.

Following consultation during July 2020, Birmingham City Council made a number of temporary wording changes to the SCI which will remain in place until Government requirements for social distancing have been lifted and it is safe to return to the consultation methods and practices set out in the existing SCI published in January 2020.

At that point, the January 2020 SCI will once again be brought back into effect.

The Temporary Changes to the SCI document is available to download, alongside an accessible version for use with screen readers.

Unfortunately, the document is not available to view at any council offices, libraries or other public buildings at present due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

If you require a hard copy of the document please contact Birmingham City Council.
