Alternative ways to dispose of your waste
What should I do about my missed collections?
You should continue to put your bins out as usual and we will get to them as soon as possible. This might be a weekend.
Alternatively, you can dispose of your waste and recycling at one of Birmingham's 5 Household Recycling Centres (HRC) which have temporary extended opening hours.
You will need to book a slot before you visit

Tyseley, Sutton Coldfield, Kings Norton: 7:00am to 9:00pm
Castle Bromwich: 8:00am to 6:00pm

Why is the Kings Norton HRC being redeveloped now?
The redevelopment works at Kings Norton will be complete in October 2027, delivering a better service to residents for collections and at the recycling centre.
The redevelopment has been planned since 2020 and will improve the recycling centre, making it safer and easier for residents to use.
During construction, the Kings Norton recycling centre is still open for use by residents during the opening hours listed in the previous question.
Can I take my waste to a Mobile Household Waste Centre?
Yes, you can dispose of household general waste and bulky items at our Mobile Household Waste Centres.
During industrial action we are not accepting waste from vans - from residents or businesses.
More information and a directory of upcoming visits is available.
If I bring my rubbish to the Council House, will it be removed more quickly?
No, this would be an act of fly-tipping.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to fly-tipping and do not hesitate to prosecute offenders where evidence exists.
