The Perry Barr 2040: a vision for legacy masterplan was formally adopted by Cabinet on 8 February 2022.

It was later recognised as “Highly Commended” in the Excellence in Plan Making Practice category at the RTPI West Midlands Awards for Planning Excellence 2022.

The Perry Barr 2040: a vision for legacy masterplan sets out a long-term plan to improve the area. It builds on existing regeneration projects and uses the momentum from the Games to create a lasting legacy for local people.

The masterplan was shaped by public consultation and engagement.

  • a shared vision to bring people and organisations together
  • clear objectives based on key themes for change
  • place principles to guide future development, focused on 5 themes:
    • support living and working
    • renew and repurpose
    • make a green and sustainable place
    • nurture a healthy community
    • promote a thriving Perry Barr
  • 5 focus areas with the most potential for change:
    • Perry Park
    • Perry Barr Village
    • Perry Barr Urban Centre
    • Perry Hall Park
    • Walsall Road and River Tame Corridor
