Opportunities in the Perry Barr 2040 masterplan
The Perry Barr 2040: a vision for legacy masterplan identifies several opportunities to improve the area.
These include:
- improving Perry Park and Perry Hall Park, and opening up the River Tame Corridor to create a green loop around Perry Barr
- creating better pedestrian routes and active travel options
- building new homes, including completing the Perry Barr Residential Scheme
- reusing the Bus Garage as a mixed-use space for commercial, cultural and community use
- creating a more diverse and attractive urban centre by:
- redeveloping the One Stop Shopping Centre, working with existing tenants over time
- developing council-owned sites at Birchfield Gateway for local centre and residential use
- securing a sustainable future for the Alexander Stadium complex
- supporting cultural, heritage and community activities to create a vibrant place
- reducing reliance on cars and promoting the principles of a 15-minute neighbourhood
These opportunities form part of the wider PB2040 programme.
