Suicide prevention campaign
In 2023, 103 people died by suicide in Birmingham. Suicide affects more than the individual – every suicide has a ripple effect which devastates entire families, communities and our city.
We all have a role to play to reduce suicides in Birmingham, which starts with learning how to talk to each other about it.
From 8 September to 15 September 2025 we are hosting the city's first annual Suicide Prevention Week as part of its Suicide Prevention campaign, in partnership with local suicide prevention partners.
The week is an opportunity to engage in open, compassionate, and empathetic conversations about suicide.
