Help for people with no recourse to public funds
Call 999 or go to your local police station for immediate help if you or someone else is in danger or a crime is in progress. If you are unable to speak, 999 operators can still connect you to police. The operator will listen for background noises. Find out how to make silent 999 calls.

People with no recourse to public funds are those that are subject to immigration control unless there is an exception. They can be especially vulnerable to abuse because it can be hard to access public services, but help is available.
Abusers may use your immigration status to control you, such as:
- taking or hiding your visa or identification documents
- threatening to have you deported
- telling you that help is not available to you because of your status
You may face additional barriers in seeking support as your immigration status may mean that you:
- have little income, making you more vulnerable to economic abuse
- may not have had any previous contact with public services
- may be isolated from any community and may face language barriers
Support is available to help you reach safety and recover. You may be able to apply for a Destitute Domestic Abuse Concession to access a publicly funded refuge or apply for alternative housing.
