Help during or after pregnancy
Call 999 or go to your local police station for immediate help if you or someone else is in danger or a crime is in progress. If you are unable to speak, 999 operators can still connect you to police. The operator will listen for background noises. Find out how to make silent 999 calls.

If you are pregnant or have recently given birth, and concerned about your wellbeing, speak to any of the professionals you are in contact with, such as your GP, midwife, obstetrician, health visitor or social worker.
You can also get help through domestic abuse helplines.
Pregnancy is a special time for many families, but domestic abuse often begins during pregnancy, or after a woman has given birth. Women’s Aid found in a study from 19 countries that 36% of women experience abuse during pregnancy.
For those already experiencing domestic abuse, physical violence might pause during pregnancy, as the abuser may try not to hurt the developing baby. This does not mean that the abuse has stopped. Physical violence often starts again once the baby is born.
An abuser may use pregnancy to increase their control. This could be by removing or tampering with contraceptives or denying access to family planning services or emergency contraception.
Abuse has a significant impact on the health of pregnant victims and survivors, and their babies.
