About the board
The Birmingham City Partnership Board is a non-statutory partnership. It does not hold any formal decision-making or budgetary powers for the city. Its strength lies in its collective assets and functions, and in its commitment to work collaboratively to shape Birmingham’s future.
The role of the board is to:
- act as the overarching partnership body for Birmingham, bringing together diverse partnership networks to create a shared, amplified voice for the city
- shape and influence policy, priorities and decision-making to support the delivery of the City Vision and Birmingham Promise
- champion community engagement and involvement in policy and programme development
- be representative and reflective of Birmingham, embodying the Birmingham Promise and its associated values
- commit to the mission and take ownership and accountability for actions
Statement of purpose
We will provide strategic leadership and direction to enable the delivery of the City Vision and its 5 missions. By actively listening to our diverse communities, we will understand the key challenges and opportunities facing Birmingham and maximise partner assets. We will each take forward actions to tackle inequality and support a thriving economy, where all communities can enjoy greater well-being.
Missions
The Birmingham City Partnership Board is committed to providing strategic leadership and direction to enable the delivery of the City Vision and its five strategic missions.
Birmingham's vision is to become a city that effectively tackles inequality, fostering a thriving economy where all communities benefit from greater opportunities and wellbeing. By 2035, the city aims to be the best in Europe for young people and a global leader as an anti-racist city, reflecting its diverse and youthful population.
Birmingham aspires to be a healthy, sustainable city that celebrates its diversity, culture and history, while remaining committed to eliminating all forms of inequality. It will continue to be the UK’s leading city of entrepreneurship, harnessing the potential of its youth and building a vibrant economy that benefits all residents.
