Birmingham Youth City Board

Birmingham City Partnership works with the Birmingham Youth City Board, which is managed through the Birmingham City Council Youth Service.

The Birmingham Youth City Board is a group of young people from Birmingham aged 11 to 18 years old.

They work with Birmingham City Council and other partners to make sure that the voices of young people are reflected in policy development and service delivery. This includes feeding into the work of the Birmingham City Partnership Board.

The Birmingham Youth City Board aims to:

  • promote meaningful engagement with young people
  • connect them with the current work of partners around Birmingham
  • help create a city that provides for and benefits all generations

Members of the Birmingham Youth City Board are involved with:

  • Youth Parliament
  • social activism
  • the Young People's Independent Advisory Group
  • the Young Women's Independent Advisory Group

The Birmingham Youth City Board is coordinated by Birmingham Youth Service, which sits within the council. This includes senior youth workers and youth support workers.

The Birmingham Youth City Board has attended events such as:

  • Birmingham YouthCon
  • the Young Inspectors Residential
  • meetings with the West Midlands Police
