Welcome to Birmingham – Support for newly granted refugees
If you have recently been granted refugee status, the Refugee and Migrant Centre (RMC) Sanctuary Hub can help you settle and become confident in your new life.
The hub offers free, expert support for people living in Birmingham.
What support you can get
- Local orientation – Access to a ‘Welcome to Birmingham’ pack and guidance on settling in.
- Housing – Guidance to help you find safe and long‑term accommodation.
- Employment – Support to access training, courses and career pathways.
- Education – Information on school places, adult learning and English language (ESOL) classes.
- Financial independence (Universal Credit) – Help applying for benefits and understanding what you can receive.
- Health and wellbeing – Support registering with the NHS and finding wellbeing services.

In-person support
Drop‑in available on the same days in the morning at the Birmingham Centre.
A staff member will speak to you and guide you.

Help if your asylum claim is withdrawn
If your asylum claim has been withdrawn by the Home Office, and you will lose your support and Serco-managed accommodation, you can get help from Refugee Action’s Care Project.
