Tree surveys and reports

Tree surveys for planning

There is a statutory duty under the Town & Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended) for local planning authorities to consider the protection of trees when planning applications are made. To ensure the correct information is collected and any impact on trees can be assessed, tree surveys for planning must follow the British Standard 5837:2012 ‘Trees in Relation to Design, Demolition and Construction – Recommendations’(BS5837:2012).

We can provide tree reports which will guide you through the planning and development process, whilst aiding the retention and protection of suitable trees and maximising the chances of a successful application.

Tree specialist services

Image of survey information overlaying a tree surveyWe can offer a range of other associated arboricultural services should your need arise.

  • You may require an Arboricultural Survey to assess and report on the current condition of your tree stock in order to determine future management requirements.
  • You may require specific construction site monitoring carried out by a qualified Arboriculturist, required for overseeing particular site operations (ie excavations in a root protected area) on a sensitive site which includes trees of particular importance and/or trees that are protected by tree preservation orders.
  • Or, you may require a safety survey to discharge your legal obligation and ensure that your trees do not represent a danger to other people or to neighbouring property.

We can also facilitate the following services:

  • BS5837 tree survey for planning
  • Arboricultural method statement
  • Arboricultural impact assessment
  • Tree inspections for health and safety
  • Construction site monitoring
  • Planting schemes
  • CAVAT Tree Valuations
