Laura-Kate Chapman art work in the Children's Library

The work I created for the Children’s section of the library is inspired by stories and characters from The Parker Collection of books and games owned by Birmingham Library.

From researching into The Parker Collection I selected certain stories and characters that interested me and developed them using my own ideas and illustrative style to create unique characters that I think both children and adults will relate to and enjoy.

Through my illustrations I hope to make the children’s section a fun, exciting and interactive area where children will enjoy spending time looking at and reading books with their parents or on their own. I hope that my illustrations will encourage children to use their imaginations to create their own narratives for each character.

It was an incredible opportunity to work on such a unique illustration project and I hope people continue to enjoy the work I have created and the Library for years to come.
