Maps and topography

We have an extensive collection of about 55,000 maps held in Archives & Collections service. This guide is intended as an introduction to the availability and use of maps and topographical sources. It is a starting point rather than an exhaustive inventory list and further sources will be found by checking the online catalogues (Spydus and CalmView) plus paper and card catalogues /indexes and index maps.

The map collection card catalogue is located in cabinet 23, drawers 1 to 5 in the Heritage Research Area. Be aware it may not be possible to serve all maps listed in this catalogue upon demand, and a return visit by appointment in our archival searchroom may be necessary.
