Adult learn to ride

Learn to ride is a high quality cycle training course for anyone aged 18 or over who lives in Birmingham. You will need a Leisure Card and a Wellbeing Card to take part; both are free and available from Wellbeing Centres

Learn to Ride follows the National Standard for cycle training guidelines and delivers training for cyclists of all skill levels from complete beginners to cyclists wishing to ride on the road.

You can bring your own bike or borrow one; please let us know when booking if you need to borrow a bike. We strongly advise that you purchase a helmet before attending.

There are two courses available:

  • Level 1
Held on traffic free training sites, level 1 will help you improve your riding control skills, including learning to pedal if necessary. If you’ve never ridden a bike before or need to get your confidence back, level 1 is for you.
  • Level 2
If you can confidently ride and control your bike, it’s time for level 2. Sessions take place on the road, and you’ll learn about road positioning, signalling, hazards etc.
