Short-term (day) bike hire

Update

These bikes are currently not available, but should be available later this year.

Visit our West Midlands cycle and e-scooter hire page to find an alternative.

Free daily bike hire is available to adults with a leisure card at some of our cycle centres.

People aged 17 and under may also hire a bike, but must:

  • be accompanied by a parent or guardian
  • be able to safely ride an adult bike

How to borrow a bike

To borrow a bike for the first time, take your leisure card to a participating cycle centre with:

  • proof of identification
  • recent proof of address, for example, a utility bill from the last 3 months

You will have to sign a hire agreement, then the centre staff will activate your Big Birmingham Bikes membership.

You will need to show your leisure card every time you borrow a bike.

Returning a bike

You must return the bike at the time specified by that centre, usually one hour before the centre closes.

These bikes cannot be kept overnight.

Bikes are issued on a one bike per membership basis.
