Other cycle routes
In November 2021, we consulted on making 3 temporary ‘pop-up cycle routes’ permanent and creating one new cycle route.
These routes were identified as priorities in the Birmingham Walking and Cycling Strategy and Infrastructure Plan and formed part of the proposed West Midlands regional cycle network.
City centre to City Hospital (A457 corridor)
The A457 corridor cycle route is a one-way cycle lane in the Jewellery Quarter on Graham Street and Legge Street and a two-way cycle lane on Carver Street.
This scheme proposes reallocation of road space, direction signs and other access improvements to support travel by active modes to City Hospital, Jewellery Quarter and city centre.

Selly Oak local centre (A38 corridor)
The A38 Corridor cycle route is a segregated cycle route along the A38 between Selly Oak and Birmingham City Centre.
In 2017, a consultation took place for this route. The scheme proposes reallocation of road space in Selly Oak local centre to create a two-way light segregated cycle route between Selly Oak Triangle and the Birmingham Cycle Revolution A38 ‘blue’ route.
