Apply to be a licensed chaperone

If your application is successful

If your application is successful at the interview stage, we will:

  • issue you with a chaperone licence
  • send you a chaperone ID card

How long your licence is valid for

Your chaperone licence is valid for up to 3 years as long as you register annually with the DBS Update Service.

Annual checks

We will check your Enhanced DBS status on the DBS Update Service each year.

You will receive a new chaperone ID card annually provided you pass these checks.

We may revoke your licence based on:

  • your DBS status
  • concerns about the welfare and safeguarding of a child
  • changes in your personal circumstances
  • if your licence has expired and you have not made a new application
